My local cable TV monopoly has managed to restore cable modem service after a 6 day outage. This is totally outrageous in and of itself. But that wasn't enough for them, they had to go all out in their incompetence.
The receptionists answering the phones were left totally out of the loop as to the status of whatever repair efforts were going on. They only knew there was anything wrong with cable modem service because of all the calls from irate customers. They simply transfered calls to the "correct" department, where the phone was not answered! I was on hold for hours at a time, day after day, since Monday morning!
I never got to talk to any of the technical personnel, so I have no idea what the problem was which caused the six day outage. But it is clear they don't know what they're doing. It wasn't a cable TV network outage, it was a broadband service outage: I still had cable TV service, but my cable modem was dead.
I can't wait for UHF wireless bandwidth to be deregulated, so that someone, anyone, takes these bozos out of business. :-)
